Well where do I start what a couple of busy weeks it has been, Frank has just come back from his holidays where he enjoyed 12 days cruising round the Med stopping off in places like Naples, Marmaris and Istanbul. So for this time I'm calling it Robins Blog with a bit of help from Frank!! I've just had a big birthday but I'm not going to tell you which one the girls on the reception desk bought me a rather nice bottle of malt whiskey not realising that I'm tee-total, and that includes whiskey!!
The second stage of the Liverpool One development was officially opened by HRH Princess Anne on 1st October, I popped down, and the celebrations were amazing. There was so much to see and do on the day. When you come down to the hotel you'll have to take a look at all the shops and restaurants there's also a 14 screen ODEON and the best thing is, it's less than a five minute walk from the hotel.
The 3rd October was a very special day down at the new landing stage it was the last voyage of the QE2, and didn't she attract the crowds!! We had coach loads of people coming down throughout the day to catch a glimpse of her. At 10pm there was a massive firework display as she sailed off down the Mersey for the last time. To be honest the day really couldn't have been any busier for us with people popping in for a bite to eat or a cup of coffee before or after seeing the ship, the gym was also really busy that day I think it had something to do with the QE2 more or less being right outside the window! The hotel also held the Liverpool branch of Coutts 5th Birthday Celebration lunch where guests came to enjoy the culinary delights of the Crowne Plaza and then boarded the QE2 for afternoon tea, all this on Franks 1st day back from holidays!!
I got to see Xabi Alonso last week launching the new EA Sports FIFA '09 game; he did cause a stir with some of the girls in the office suddenly becoming avid Liverpool fans, it even did with the boss who is a real supporter!
The hotel also held an exclusive preview collection in association with the Debenhams Personal Shopper service, guests came to see some of the collections for both men and women, and got advice and styling tips whilst also watching live makeup demonstrations, and for the men in the audience there was a wet shave demonstration. I think a good evening was had by all.
The one to watch out for is this time is the MTV awards this Thursday (6th November) which are being held down the road in the Echo Arena, we'll tell you any gossip we get next time until then feel free to add any comments or ask us any questions through the blog.
