What a month it has been, we have been celeb spotting left right and centre! 1st there was the MTV awards that were held at the Echo Arena, never mind the guests who were staying the talk of the hotel was the 2 Rolls Royce Phantoms in the car park and along with 5 Bentleys (oh how common!) and a range of other very expensive motors. Talking of cars I (Robin) opened the door of a Rolls Royce last week and David Guest popped out he was planning a ball and wanted to have a look at our function room, on the way out he took over my job and held the door open and welcomed guests to the hotel they were a little bemused!
On the 5th December we held a Legends Luncheon in association with Sky Sports which saw 400 guests dine with football legends past and present. Robin was on the early shift and Frank was on the late so we had a competition of who could spot the most legends Frank won but our GM got the best prize as he had his picture taken with Rafa!
Charlie Gracie held a concert at the Empire so used the hotel as his base, and Richard from Dragons Den also popped into the hotel for a coffee, Jamie Carragher was also in the Lounge bar. We got to catch a glimpse of Jude Law and Guy Richie who were making the film Sherlock Holmes down on the dock road.
Last night was BBC Sports Personality of the year 2008 held at the Echo Arena Chris Hoy was the overall winner, the city was buzzing with people. Guests this morning were saying how fabulous the arena looked and what an amazing job Liverpool did of hosting the event.
Christmas festivities are in full swing, the Christmas tree is standing pride of place in reception, we had the annual Santa dash running past the hotel last weekend and our Christmas party is coming up soon.
I (Frank) just wanted to say thank you to those of you who voted for me, last week I found out I have been shortlisted for the Academy of excellences 2008 Welcome Award, the winner will be reviled at the awards ceremony held at the hotel in February, so I'll keep you posted.
This is our last blog for 2008 so we would like to finish by wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. We look forward to welcoming back our regular guests, and meeting new friends in 2009.
