Welcome to blog number 5, we can't believe how fast the beginning of 2009 has gone, it's nearly March, and what busy boys we have been!!
Have you had a chance to check out our new photo gallery? We'll keep it updated on a regular basis of people we meet, the sights we see, and also areas of the hotel, so you can see what we see!
Well so much for the snow. We only had one day of heavyish snow it wasn't too thick just looked very scenic, but there was only enough for little snowballs to be thrown across the car park! It wasn't like the sights seen down south, and fortunately for us the roads were gritted so we got to work ok.
Valentines time around the hotel always creates a certain buzz, especially as we had a chocolate fountain with strawberries, marshmallows and doughnuts in the staff canteen as our Valentines treat. One of our guests had arranged to bring his girlfriend here as a surprise and then take her to their special place, where he got down on one knee and popped the question, to which she said yes. While this was all going on the concierge at the hotel were busy placing flowers, rose petals, balloons and champagne in the room for when they came back (don't know what would of happened if she had said no!).
In December I (Frank) told you how I had been shortlisted for an Ambassador Award in the category of 2008 Welcome. The awards ceremony took place at the hotel on 5th February it was a great night, with about 400 people in attendance, a table magician, champagne reception and Abba tribute band to name a few of the highlights. Jurgita from Reception, and Jenny in accounts won their awards for Student of the Year, and Unsung Hero, however I was pipped to the post on the night, and came in highly commended!
Last week there was a property auction held at the hotel, the boss did warn us before hand not to raise our hand at any time, as he didn't want to be footing the bill! There wasn't a space left in the car park it was so busy, with some lovely places being sold at very good prices, credit crunch, what credit crunch!!!!
It's Pancake Day on Tuesday (24th February) and one of our chefs is competing in a local competition run by the Rector of Liverpool, where they have to run and keep their pancake in the frying pan - so good luck Dean!
