Going For Gold
Intercontinental Hotels, Crowne Plaza Liverpool’s parent company are proud accommodation sponsors for the London 2012 Olympics.
Locally the Crowne Plaza Liverpool is launching its own build up to the Olympics. The plan is to inspire the team to embark on a year long life changing program that will focus on encouraging everyone to make their own physical well being a priority.
The Bronze level is aimed at 50% of the team member’s involvement in an activity to improve their fitness and raise money for a local charity that will be match funded by the hotel.
The hotel has decided to hold a virtual bike ride from Liverpool to the Olympic stadium using the hi tech gym bikes from its own Harbour Club Health and Fitness Club. Each team member will be required to cycle 5 miles at a given time and contribute to the charity.
Stephen Roberts General Manager himself a keen cyclist said of the idea, I believe that the Olympics will be a wonderful event for the whole country and as with the Capital of Culture people were a little unsure of what it would look and feel like in the run up to 2008. I think 2012 will be a spectacular event that brings out a national pride as did the Royal Wedding.
One of the legacies from this should be that as a nation we look after ourselves better and whether that be diet, giving up smoking, more exercise then I am keen that my team are encouraged to create some positive habits over the next 12 months.
Over the coming months the hotel will look to achieve Silver and Gold awards by involving more of the team in a range of holistic endeavours aimed at improving body and mind.
